About The BugMangaka

My body of work combines interpretations of my own experiences and object-making to create connections with others as I share physical artwork with my audience both online and in the convention space. My sense of self is deeply intertwined with my artwork. I write narratives that reflect personal experiences and emotions through original characters as well as transformative fan artwork. My illustrations are characterized by their cute, round characters and playful, vibrant colors. Themes of sex and queerness are a main focus in my comics, which either showcase my innermost thoughts through short autobiographical comics or longer-format fictional narratives. Utilizing digital tools, I create functional, usable artwork with the intent of bringing it into the physical world. I accomplish this by printing, hand-cutting, or binding with the goal of seeing my art being used or stored on bookshelves. Needless to say, manufacturing all of the products I sell myself is a vital aspect of my work. I take great inspiration from manga within my sequential work, especially with how I create panel layouts and structure narratives. My cute and mascot-like character designs are heavily influenced by Japanese video games such as those from Nintendo. Currently, I am selling in-person at anime and comics conventions across the Midwest to bring my artwork to more people, as well as selling my work online.
